CRACK INJECTION

Sealing Crack Injection

As crack injection shall be understood the filling of cracks in reinforced concrete buildings or brickwork by means of grouting with mineral based materials or resins.

Cracks in concrete can be caused by several different reasons, like setting or shrinking of the concrete or mistakes in design or in construction process.

Solid Structure Crack Injection

Especially water bearing cracks are the reason for corrosion on the reinforcement and jeopardize the safety of a concrete building. TPH offers secure and long term solutions for the crack injection in reinforced concrete.

All products, systems and solutions, which will be presented in the following chapters, are approved for many years on the sites and are in possession of a General Appraisal Certificate.

Uses

Acrylate gel for flexible crack injection

Acrylate gel for flexible crack injection

Acrylate gel for flexible crack injection

  • TECHNO-Injection 307 is used for injection into cracks in reinforced concrete buildings.
  • It has an extremely low blending viscosity, making it suitable for even capillary cracks.
  • A fissure injected with TECHNO-Injection 307 can resist a water pressure of 5 bar at a fissure expansion of 68%.
  • This was demonstrated in an application technological test.

  • TECHNO-Injection 201, TECHNO-Injection 202 and TECHNO-Injection 202 LV are used for injection filling of cracks in reinforced concrete buildings.
  • The process involves diagonally spot drilling the fissures and inserting high pressure packers into the drill holes.
  • A plugging of the crack, such as using TECHNO-Rip 101, is usually necessary.
  • Prior to injection, the single components are weighed or gauged in the prescribed mixing ratio and blended in a special vessel or feed hopper of the injection pump.
  • Homogeneous blending is essential.
  • Injection is carried out via the high pressure packers within the processing time for the respective product using single-component injection pumps.
  • It is recommended to use a standard pump for injection.

Epoxy for structure crack injection

  • Epoxy resins are composed of polymers.
  • They can be made into a synthetic material by adding hardeners.
  • This material has many uses in craft work and industry, including high resistance to chemicals, long life span, low weight, high adhesion ability, and low shrinkage.
  • Epoxy resins have been used for many years as injection material for waterproofing.
  • They are typically applied to reinforced concrete structures where solidification is required.
  • TECHNO-Injection 410 is a two-component, low-viscous injection resin based on Epoxy.
  • It has special chemical and physical properties that make it suitable for use in reinforced structures and even hair cracks.
  • The formulation allows for processing on moist surfaces.
  • Before injecting, cracks must be pinpointed and backfilled if necessary.
  • Cracks are then center drilled angular and high-pressure packers are placed.
  • The components are mixed according to the mixing ratio and scrambled homogeneously.
  • A one-component pump is used to grout the cracks with TECHNO-Injection 410.

Sealing of defective expansion joints

Sealing of defective expansion joints

  • TECHNO-Injection 304 is used for renovating expansion joints.
  • The joint is first evacuated by removing the old joint sealant and polystyrene join filling.
  • The TECHNO-Seal E compression seal is then pressed into the joint, and the sealant is applied with TECHNO-Flex E.
  • A PE back fill profile should be installed before sealing to prevent three-flank adhesion of the joint sealant material.
  • Once the TECHNO-Flex E has hardened, the filled acrylate gel TECHNO-Injection 304 is pressure injected into the remaining joint space.
  • The acrylate gel can be inserted via injection packers or a previously installed injection hose, such as TECHNO-Hose or TECHNO-Hose E.
  • A renovated expansion joint has been proven to resist a water pressure of 2 bar at a joint expansion of 48% compared to the original width of the joint.
